Re-Creating Myself

Creating myself

Annette’s 5-Line Self-Portrait

Creation is a messy, often painful transformative process.  If only we all had pocketsize “midwives” to pull out whenever we were going through a particularly challenging time…. helping us find some ease and grace through the BIRTH of a major life transition or change.

Last you heard from me, I had mentioned that my website was going through a redefinition.  The truth is that I’m the one that has been going through a redefinition and I’ve been doing it for 7 years now.  Seven years ago, my daughter was born.  What I hadn’t realized is that I was born that day too.  I started creating myself from that core place inside where Spirit lives.  It lives within me and within everyone.

Up until that point, my life wasn’t really mine or at least I wasn’t treating it that way.  My life was defined by family, society and it’s institutions.  Sure, it may have appeared that I was a decisive independent, successful person and I was, but it was still within the context of other people’s rules and what was expected of me.

When my daughter was born, a radical shift happened within me that changed the trajectory of my life.  I no longer could see myself going up the corporate ladder in NYC’s fast paced lifestyle.

Instead, I dove full on into “Stay-at-Home-Mom” mode.  A year in, I realized that role did not suit me either.  Long story short, I’ve been integrating all the many parts of myself since then.  Some of you have witnessed my incarnations right along with me as I have started and scrapped two businesses all the while doing my best to be an empowered mother to my daughter.  I had been searching and testing different vehicles where I could express my greatest gifts and be of service to humanity.

Isn’t that what we all want?  I know that deep down, everyone longs to express their gifts and talents and by doing so, they hope to help the lives of others and have a life that is flourishing.

This is what I aim to do in my latest creation, Mystical Midwife. It’s a platform that serves as inspiration to help you birth your true spiritual nature.  I stand to create a world where people are free to be creative because being creative means you are tapped into the Divine Spirit and Spirit always guides you into the best life you could possibly have here on earth.

This is only the first seed of my new baby that I’ve planted so stay tuned.  In the meantime, enjoy the zygote!

Much Love,

Ladies on the Beach Cruisers

Over the past few months, I’ve been doing a whole lot of nothing.  And amazingly in the nothing, I’ve done a tremendous amount of something.

If you knew me up until a few months ago, you may have equated me to the Tasmanian Devil gobbling up anything I felt a passion for.  My resume read something like a modern day Renaissance woman.

From music, arts and leadership…
to architecture and design…
to corporate project management…
to nutrition and holistic living…
to business and marketing…
to most recently all things spiritual and mystical in nature.

There is a tremendous amount you can learn when you throw yourself with every cell of your being into trying something new.  You expand in ways that would not be possible if you were living a monotonous one-dimensional life.  You activate parts of your brain and body that would otherwise lie dormant.

But over the last several months, I’ve learned and experienced an equally important lesson- there’s a lot you can learn by stopping and doing nothing.

What I mean by “nothing” is that I stopped striving, stopped making BIG goals and acting upon them.  Instead, I listened.  I sat in the silence and ultimately I came home to myself. [click to continue…]

Recently, I was invited to be a guest blogger over at Studio Mothers.  It’s a wonderful online hub where creative mothers gather to support each other in pursuing their creative dreams, while raising  families.  The lovely Founder, Miranda Hersey, runs three businesses and has five children while somehow looking stunning!  She’s a rare find in [...]

January 1, 2012

Here’s my gift to you… … think of it as a big enveloping hug, a hug that I’ll call “My Good Love”. It consists of 4 Stories intertwined in a circle of love. This will probably be the longest blog post (actually it’s like a small book) I will ever write but I trust that [...]
